Job Description
Job Purpose
The Pastry Chef is responsible for preparing, producing, and presenting high-quality desserts, pastries, breads, petits fours, and other baked goods to the standards expected at The Woodspeen. The role requires creativity, attention to detail, strong technical skills, and a commitment to delivering exceptional guest experiences.
Key Responsibilities

Prepare and present a range of desserts, pastries, breads, and afternoon tea items to a consistently high standard.

Support the development of seasonal menus and new pastry concepts.

Ensure all pastry products are prepared in line with recipes, specifications, and presentation standards.

Monitor product quality, freshness, and consistency at all times.

Maintain high standards of food hygiene, cleanliness, and food safety in accordance with company and legal requirements.

Manage stock levels, ordering, and rotation of ingredients within the pastry section.

Minimise waste and ensure effective use of ingredients.

Work collaboratively with the kitchen team to ensure smooth service operations.

Assist with training and mentoring junior chefs and apprentices where required.

Ensure all equipment is used safely and maintained in good working order.

Skills and Experience
Essential

Previous experience as a Pastry Chef or Chef de Partie (Pastry) in a quality restaurant, hotel, or hospitality environment.

Strong knowledge of pastry techniques, baking, and dessert preparation.

Good understanding of food hygiene and HACCP procedures.

Ability to work efficiently under pressure while maintaining attention to detail.
