Ground Maintenance Operative – Manual Labour

Rate: PAYE £14.10 per hour
About the Role:
We're recruiting a Ground Maintenance Operative to support our Estate Services team. This is a physically demanding role, ideal for someone reliable, practical, and confident working outdoors and across communal areas.
What You'll Be Doing:
- Ensuring communal areas are clean and well maintained (sweeping, vacuuming, mopping, dusting, litter picking)
- Maintaining refuse chutes, bins, and bin areas
- Using machinery (jet washers, steam cleaners) for deep cleaning
- Carrying out minor repairs (joinery, plumbing, painting, graffiti removal, lock changes)
- Reporting defects and following up with maintenance teams
- Conducting inspections and submitting reports
- Providing cover for colleagues when required
- Acting as a point of contact for residents and assisting with enquiries
- Following health & safety legislation and using PPE provided
Requirements:
- Good practical skills for minor building and domestic repairs
- Experience working in small teams
- Basic knowledge of health & safety
- Excellent communication skills (oral and written)
- Ability to use a smartphone for emails and logging issues
- Can-do attitude, able to work independently and in a team
- Must hold a full UK driving licence
