Veterinary Receptionist – Full / Part time

Ipswich Veterinary Centre is an independent veterinary practice with a purpose-built, state-of-the-art veterinary practice and part of Suffolk’s long-established Stowe Veterinary Group.
Role Summary
We currently have an opportunity for an adaptable candidate to join our reception team in a customer service focused role, providing front of house service to all our clients.
As a member of our client services team, you’ll consistently ensure that all our clients have a positive experience during every visit.
We are looking for diligent, hard-working and trustworthy members of staff to join our front of house team.
The successful candidate will demonstrate strong inter-personal skills, a ‘can do’ helpful attitude and, along with previous Reception employment experience, will also have veterinary or pet-based experience.
You’ll have the opportunity to continually improve your performance through constant learning and development and, of course, you’ll have lots of contact with animals on a daily basis.
You will need to have a full Driving Licence and be 21 years or older for our vehicle insurance requirements.

Working Times:
- Monday to Friday – shift times between 08:00 – 20:00
- Saturdays - shift times between 08:00 – 17:30
- Sundays – shift times between 10:00 – 16:00
- Full / Part-time 30-40 hours per week, including 1 in 3 Saturdays or Sundays and 2 / 3 late shifts a week.
- Bank holidays maybe part of your working week on a rota
Principal Areas of Responsibility:
- Working on the reception alongside team members
- Greeting patients and their owners on arrival making them feel welcome
- Answering the phone dealing with all requests from clients
- Taking payments and dealing with queries
- Accepting mail and packages
- Comfortable with bespoke software (training is provided)
- Serving clients in the pet shop area as required
- Assisting clients with any requests
- Liaising with the clients and clinical staff to ensure effective customer service
- Scheduling appointments
- Managing telephone enquiries and meeting and greeting
- Dispensing medication
- Ringing clients to obtain payment for services and products
- Cash management
Essential Skills and Qualifications:
- Previous experience in a customer facing role
- Previous admin experience
- Previous veterinary or an animal care role would be preferred
- Confident in answering the phone
- Excellent teamwork and communication skills
- Calm manner when dealing with difficult situations
- Good computer skills
- Full Driving Licence required and over the age of 21 years old for our vehicle insurance requirements
