We are looking for an exceptional Strategic Finance Transformation and Performance Manager to play a leading role in delivering our vision for a modern, high-performing finance function. This is a unique opportunity to influence how finance supports decision-making across the Council, driving innovation, improving financial performance and helping to deliver better outcomes for residents.
Working closely with senior leaders, budget holders and finance colleagues, you will lead initiatives that transform financial processes, strengthen financial management, improve data quality and performance reporting, and embed a culture of continuous improvement across the organisation.
The role reflects the Council's focus on modernising finance through automation, improved systems, better use of data, stronger business partnering and continuous improvement.
What You Will Be Doing

Leading strategic finance transformation that improves efficiency, effectiveness and value for money.

Developing and implementing innovative approaches to financial planning, budgeting, forecasting and performance management.

Driving continuous improvement across finance processes, systems and controls.

Supporting the development of automation, enhanced financial reporting and digital finance solutions.

Providing expert financial insight, modelling and analysis to support strategic decision-making.

Developing performance frameworks, dashboards and management information that support organisational priorities.

Working collaboratively with directors, service managers and elected members to improve financial awareness and accountability.

Supporting the implementation and optimisation of finance systems and technologies.

Championing a culture of learning, development and excellence within the finance team.
About You
We are looking for someone who can combine strong technical finance expertise with outstanding analytical and change management skills.
You will have:

A recognised CCAB/CIMA qualification.

Significant experience in a senior finance, transformation or performance management role.

A proven track record of successfully delivering complex change and service improvement.

Strong financial modelling, forecasting and analytical skills.

Advance finance system and reporting skills
-
Experience of developing performance reporting and using data to challenge and drive business decisions.

Knowledge and experience of local government finance and the challenges facing the public sector.

Excellent communication, influencing and stakeholder management skills.

The ability to translate complex financial information into practical, actionable insights.
