To support our continued growth, we are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Compliance and Vetting Team Leader to oversee the recruitment vetting function and help ensure we remain compliant with BS7858, SIA ACS, and ISO 9001 standards.
About the Role:
Reporting to the Process and Transformation Director, the Compliance and Vetting Team Leader will manage the day-to-day operations of the recruitment and vetting team, ensuring all new staff are screened correctly and efficiently before deployment. This is a hands-on position that combines operational vetting tasks with team supervision and coaching.
You’ll work full-time Monday to Friday, 9:00am to 5:00pm, with the flexibility to work from home one day per week.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the day-to-day activities of the recruitment and vetting team, ensuring timely and accurate processing of BS7858 vetting files.
- Provide coaching, training, and daily support to team members to ensure high standards and continuous improvement.
- Act as a point of escalation for vetting issues and provide quality assurance checks before personnel deployment.
- HR administration
- Prepare and maintain documentation for SIA ACS and ISO 9001 audits, supporting internal and external compliance checks.
- Allocate tasks and monitor team performance, ensuring SLAs and KPIs are met.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives and identify opportunities to streamline processes.
- Liaise with internal teams including finance and operations, to ensure joined-up working.
- Stay informed of regulatory changes and help implement updated procedures accordingly.
- Use Microsoft Excel to manage compliance data, produce vetting reports, and maintain audit readiness.
- Compliance & Standards: Support compliance with ISO standards (ISO 9001 Quality Management, ISO 14001 Environmental Management) and BS7858 screening requirements. Assist with preparation for SIA ACS audits and ISO 9001 audits, ensuring documentation and evidence are accurate and complete. Help the Process and Transformation Manager maintain governance frameworks for risk management and regulatory compliance. Ensure all company accreditations and certifications are tracked and renewed on time.
- Stakeholder Collaboration: Liaise with internal teams to gather data and feedback for process improvement initiatives. Provide clear reporting on project progress and compliance activities.
- Sustainability & Social Responsibility: Contribute to environmental initiatives, including carbon footprint reduction and ISO 14001 compliance. Support diversity and inclusion objectives within projects.
Key Requirements:
- Experience in a compliance, vetting, or HR screening role within a regulated or security environment.
- Strong working knowledge of BS7858:2019 vetting standards (preferred).
- Previous experience leading, supervising, or mentoring a team (formally or informally).
- Familiarity with SIA ACS and ISO 9001 requirements (preferred).
- Excellent attention to detail, organisation, and time management.
- Clear communicator with strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills.
- Advanced Excel skills – confident using formulas, filters, and creating reports.
