To carry out general cleaning and housekeeping duties across the Burton Constable site, including the historic Stable Block, Orangery, staff and volunteer areas, public toilets and gift shop. Typical duties will include washing, dusting, polishing, vacuum cleaning, wiping of visitor signs and other similar duties.
Principle Accountabilities
· To be responsible for the clean and tidy presentation of public areas and facilities across the museum site, which includes both modern and historic interiors.
· To carry out cleaning tasks using the designated equipment and the handling techniques
· To care for the historic interiors and collections in keeping with conservation guidelines.
· Ensure that all cleaning equipment/ materials are maintained in a safe, clean working condition. Where an item of equipment requires repair or replacement this should be reported to the Line Manager.
· To maintain records as appropriate
· Wearing of protective clothing in accordance with H&S and COSHH
· To carry out other general cleaning duties including cleaning offices, utility and toilet areas to required standards.
· Any other duties
General Requirements
· Participation in staff meetings and relevant training activities.
· Willingness to work overtime when required to cover absences of other team members.
· Willingness to work overtime when required to assist with the setting up and clearing of corporate functions and events.
· Duties must be carried out to comply with:
o Notification of accidents and other Health and Safety requirements.
o Statutory legislation, in particular COSHH and Hygiene regulations.
o Risk assessment and fire safety precautions
o Other policies and procedures set by the Foundation
· This role requires good mobility as it includes climbing stepladders, staircases and lifting of equipment.
