Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled and reliable Trailer Fitter to join our workshop team. The successful candidate will be responsible for hydraulic piping and electrical wiring of trailers.
Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose and rectify mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic faults
- Fit braking systems, suspensions, landing legs,and lighting
- Conduct safety inspections and pre-MOT checks
- Ensure all work complies with DVSA regulations and health & safety standards
- Accurately complete job cards, inspection reports, and service records
- Maintain a clean and safe working environment
- Work independently or as part of a team to meet workshop deadlines
- Liaise with supervisors regarding parts requirements and job progress
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Trailer Fitter or similar role
- Strong knowledge of HGV trailer systems and components
- Understanding of DVSA standards and MOT requirements
- Ability to use diagnostic tools and workshop equipment
- Good attention to detail and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work under pressure and manage workload effectively
- Full UK driving licence (HGV licence desirable but not essential)
Desirable Qualifications
- NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance & Repair (or equivalent)
- IRTEC accreditation
