Job Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Domestic Abuse Support Worker to provide vital assistance to individuals experiencing domestic violence and abuse. In this role, you will offer emotional support, practical guidance, and safety planning to empower survivors on their journey toward safety and recovery. Your proactive approach and empathetic nature will help create a safe environment where clients feel heard, respected, and supported every step of the way.
Duties
- Offer empathetic listening and emotional support to clients affected by domestic abuse
- Conduct safety assessments and develop personalized safety plans tailored to each individual’s needs
- Provide information about available resources, legal options, and support services
- Assist clients in navigating complex systems such as housing, legal processes, and healthcare
- Support clients with children by offering guidance on child welfare and ensuring their safety needs are met
- Maintain accurate case records, confidentiality, and documentation of all interactions
- Collaborate with partner agencies to coordinate comprehensive support for clients
Skills
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to listen actively and respond empathetically
- Strong understanding of domestic abuse issues, including dynamics of control and coercion
- Experience working with children is highly desirable to support family-focused interventions
- Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively within a multidisciplinary team
- Resilience and emotional strength to handle challenging situations sensitively
- Knowledge of relevant legislation, safeguarding procedures, and support frameworks
- Commitment to promoting empowerment, safety, and well-being for vulnerable individuals
MUST HAVE EXPERIENCE
Pay: £12.75-£14.00 per hour
