Overview
The Project SEARCH Tutor will be based at the Amazon Fulfilment Centre, Melton Site, East Yorkshire and will play a key role in supporting interns to achieve positive employment outcomes.
Responsibilities
- Co-ordinate the DFN Project SEARCH employability curriculum within classroom and workplace settings.
- Recruit and support young people aged 18+ with EHCPs, learning disabilities, autism and additional support needs, to develop employability skills and independence to thrive in the workplace.
- Manage and maintain the EHCPs with the intern and their families and signpost to relevant disability and health support services where appropriate.
- Manage the member portal to maintain records of staff and intern changes, experiences and outcomes.
- Deliver an employability skills curriculum in the classroom and support the intern to develop employment skills and knowledge leading to successful employment. Curriculum and resources are available via the DFN Project SEARCH portal.
- Work collaboratively with Amazon managers, workplace mentors, Job Coaches and partner agencies to support intern progression and success.
- Monitor learner progress and maintain accurate records in line with HLC, DFN Project SEARCH and funding requirements.
- Support interns to identify career aspirations, set realistic employment goals and develop personalised progression plans by setting personalised measurable targets to be reviewed frequently against learning, quality and safety benchmarks.
- Support interns to create CVs, portfolios and job applications and prepare for interviews and recruitment processes.
- Promote inclusive employment practices and support employers to implement reasonable adjustments where required.
- Support interns and families to access information and guidance regarding Access to Work, Personal Independence Payment (PIP), Universal Credit and other relevant support services.
- Work closely with local authority SEND teams, DWP representatives, supported employment providers and other stakeholders to maximise positive outcomes for interns.
- Attend and contribute to Project SEARCH Steering Group meetings and quality improvement activities.
- Ensure compliance with safeguarding, Prevent, health and safety, equality and diversity, GDPR and all HLC policies and procedures.
- Undertake any other duties commensurate with the grade and nature of the post.
Experience
Essential Criteria
- Level 3 qualification or equivalent or a demonstrated track record in Education, Teaching, SEND, Employability, Youth Work, Supported Employment or a related subject.
- Experience of supporting young people aged 18+ with EHCPs, learning disabilities, autism and/or additional support needs.
- Experience of delivering learning, training, employability or vocational programmes.
- Knowledge of SEND legislation, EHCP processes and transition into adulthood.
- Understanding of supported internships and supported employment models.
- Awareness of Access to Work, PIP, Universal Credit and employment support available to disabled people.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organisational and administrative skills.
- Ability to build effective relationships with employers, families and partner agencies.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
- Competent IT skills including Microsoft Office and learner management systems.

Desirable Criteria
- Appropriate teaching qualification
- Experience of DFN Project SEARCH delivery
- Experience of supported employment or supported internship programmes.
- Knowledge of local labour market opportunities within Hull and East Yorkshire.
- Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.
