As well as providing materials through our chemicals catalogue, we manufacture a range of organic fine chemicals used in a wide range of scientific and industrial applications. Our products support customers worldwide, including pharmaceutical companies, biotechs, CROs, academic institutions, chemical traders and industrial manufacturers.
Role
We are seeking a motivated Sales and/ or Business Development Executive with 1-2 years’ experience in technical sales or commercial roles within the chemical industry to join our growing commercial team. The successful candidate will play a vital role in managing and developing customer relationships while also identifying and pursuing new business opportunities. The role will focus on technical sales and account management. You will be responsible for identifying and developing strategic opportunities, building long term customer relationships and working closely with internal teams to help our customers.
Furthermore, the successful candidate will be based on-site at our Runcorn facility for the initial 3-6 months, to fully integrate into the business and understand processes. After this period, a hybrid working arrangement can be discussed, with on-site presence of 4 days per week, depending on customer visits, online meetings and wider business needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Working and being part of a busy sales team
- Handling technical enquiries received via the telephone and e-mail
- Managing and growing an existing customer base, whilst also trying to expand the customer portfolio further
- Liaise with clients, suppliers and internal teams to deliver results and drive growth
- Actively drive new business opportunities, leveraging knowledge and customer feedback
- Maintain communication with customers, ensuring transparency on quotations, orders and delivery timelines
- Support developing marketing materials to help drive sales
- Represent Manchester Organics at industry events, exhibitions and client visits
- Liaise with internal departments (production, QC, logistics) to coordinate and deliver customer requirements
- A flexible can do attitude with a willingness to adapt, learn and support fellow colleagues when required
Candidate Requirements
- Minimum BSc in Chemistry – essential
- 1-2 years’ experience in technical sales, account management or business development in the chemical sector
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a strong commercial mindset
- Highly organised, self-motivated and capable of working both independently and within a cross functional team
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Experience with SAP is desirable, but not essential
- Fluency in English is essential, additional language skills are a bonus
- Willingness and ability to travel across the UK and mainland Europe at short notice (unrestricted travel in Europe is a prerequisite)
- A full UK driving licence is desirable
