Rhondda Cynon Taf Council is one of the largest Local Authorities in Wales and our vision is for it to be a place where “All people, communities, and businesses can grow and live in a healthy, green, safe, vibrant, and inclusive County Borough where they can achieve their full potential in all aspects of their lives and work, both now and in the future.” (Corporate Plan 2024-2030).
As a Streetcare Operative within Public Spaces, you will play a key role in helping to maintain clean, safe and attractive communities across Rhondda Cynon Taf. Working as part of a dedicated frontline team, you will contribute directly to improving the local environment and enhancing the quality of life for residents, visitors and businesses with a focus on Parks and Street Cleansing.
We are seeking motivated and reliable individuals who take pride in their work and are committed to delivering high standards of service. The successful candidates will undertake a variety of street cleansing and environmental maintenance duties, working both independently and as part of a team to support the Council’s ambitious environmental objectives.
Reporting to the Streetcare team leader for daily operations, you will be responsible for carrying out a range of operational activities including litter picking, bin emptying, street cleansing, vegetation removal, weed control and responding to environmental issues within local communities. You will also operate a variety of mechanical equipment and assist with other service requirements, including adverse weather operations when required.
Candidates will need to demonstrate a positive attitude, good communication skills and the ability to work effectively in an outdoor environment in all weather conditions.
Experience of manual work is essential and experience within a street cleansing, grounds maintenance or environmental services setting would be an advantage. A commitment to health and safety, customer care and teamwork is essential.
The successful candidates will be based within the Council's Streetcare Service, operating from locations including Dinas, Tŷ Glantaf and Cynon Valley depots, with duties undertaken throughout the County Borough as required.
