We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Assistant Manager (Electrical) to support the Head of Electrical Services & Projects, in the strategic leadership, management and development of the Council’s Electrical Services Department.
This is a key role with responsibility for the safe, efficient and effective delivery of the Council’s public lighting services, electrical infrastructure, decorative lighting and associated electrical assets. You will provide professional and technical advice on street lighting policy, asset management, resource planning and service delivery, ensuring compliance with statutory obligations, industry standards and highway requirements.
You will co-ordinate a multidisciplinary operational workforce across electrical, civil engineering, blacksmith and painting services. The role will oversee planned and reactive maintenance, capital projects, emergency response, technical compliance, asset renewal and service improvement programmes.
You must have a Level 4 City & Guilds Higher Professional Diploma/HND or equivalent, in a relevant discipline and a proven track record of successful professional and managerial experience. Strong interpersonal, stakeholder-management and influencing skills, with experience of managing financial budgets, is essential. Membership of, or relevant registration with, the National Inspection Council for Electrical Installation Contractors (NICEIC) is also required. Comprehensive knowledge and practical understanding of the following are also essential:

BS 5489: Design of Road Lighting.

ENA Engineering Recommendation G39/1: Public Lighting Mandate.

Public Lighting Central Management Systems (CMS).

Smart City LoRaWAN networks.
You must be proficient in the use of ICT applications and hold a current valid driving licence.
