Painter & Decorator – West London
Platinum Paints
Richmond / West London
£170–£220 per day depending on experience and ability
PAYE, CIS, Self-Employed & Part-Time Opportunities Available
About Us
Platinum Paints is a professional painting and decorating company working primarily across West London, including Richmond, Chiswick, Kensington, Chelsea and surrounding areas.
We are a small, growing team and much of our work is carried out in high-end residential properties, where attention to detail, cleanliness, professionalism and respect for our clients' homes are extremely important.
We are now looking for another Painter & Decorator to work with us on a regular basis and potentially become a long-term member of our team.
Who We're Looking For
Experience is valuable, but we don't believe someone needs 10–20 years in the trade to be a good addition to our team.
We are happy to consider someone with approximately 1–2 years of painting and decorating experience who has the right attitude, takes pride in their work and genuinely wants to develop their skills.
We are equally interested in hearing from more experienced decorators who are looking for regular work with a professional small team.
The right person should be:
- Reliable and punctual
- Hardworking with a positive attitude
- Professional and respectful when working in clients' homes
- Able to work well as part of a small team
- Willing to learn and take feedback
- Able to follow instructions and agreed specifications
- Organised and able to keep working areas clean and tidy
- Focused on preparation and attention to detail, not simply finishing the job as quickly as possible
- Friendly and comfortable communicating with colleagues and clients
- Someone who takes genuine pride in the finished result
Because we work closely together, personality and team fit are important to us. This position is better suited to someone who enjoys working alongside others rather than someone who strongly prefers working independently all the time.
Typical Work
Our projects can include:
- Interior painting and decorating
- Exterior painting
- Walls and ceilings
- Doors, frames, skirting boards and other woodwork
- Sash windows and exterior joinery
- Preparation, sanding and filling
- High-quality finishing work
- Working in occupied and high-end residential properties
Good preparation is a major part of the standard we expect. We are looking for someone who understands, or is willing to learn, that achieving a quality finish starts with proper preparation.
Experience
1–2 years' experience is preferred but not essential for the right candidate.
More experience is an advantage and will be reflected in the rate offered.
We are more interested in finding someone who is reliable, willing to learn and takes pride in their work than someone with many years of experience but the wrong attitude.
Location & Travel
We mainly work throughout West London, particularly:
Richmond, Chiswick, Kensington, Chelsea and surrounding areas.
Ideally, applicants should live in Richmond or the wider West London area and be able to travel reliably between different project locations.
Having your own transport is beneficial but not necessarily essential, depending on your location.
Pay
£170–£220 per day, depending on experience, skill level and ability.
The exact rate will be discussed following an initial conversation and trial period.
Employment Options
We are flexible and happy to consider:
- PAYE employment
- CIS / self-employed decorators
- Full-time availability
- Part-time decorators
- Self-employed decorators who already have their own clients but would like regular additional work with our team
You don't necessarily need to be available five days every week. If you're a good fit for the team and can work with us regularly, we're happy to discuss your availability.
Trial & Longer-Term Opportunity
We prefer to make sure the arrangement works well for both sides before making a longer-term commitment.
We would therefore initially arrange a paid trial for a few days. Depending on availability and circumstances, this may continue for a few weeks.
If everything goes well, we would then move into an approximately 2–3 month probationary period.
After that, if both sides are happy, there is an opportunity for regular and long-term work with Platinum Paints.
As the company grows, there will also be opportunities for people who demonstrate reliability, good workmanship and the ability to take greater responsibility.
