Working Site Supervisor / Site Manager
Craig Construction Services Ltd is looking for an experienced Working Site Supervisor / Site Manager to join our team, initially working on a major multi-million-pound refurbishment and conversion project in Worthing, as well as other projects across Sussex.
This is a hands-on position and would suit someone who is comfortable managing a site and leading a team, but who is equally prepared to get involved with general building works when required.
We are not looking for a purely office-based Site Manager. We need someone practical who can lead from the front, take ownership of their area of work and help keep the project moving.
The Role
Depending on the project and workload, you will be responsible for supervising teams of approximately 3 to 20 operatives and subcontractors.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Day-to-day supervision and management of CCS operatives and subcontractors
- Coordinating trades and sequencing works
- Carrying out general building works alongside supervisory duties
- Monitoring progress against the construction programme
- Reading and working from construction drawings and specifications
- Identifying and resolving site issues
- Maintaining high standards of workmanship and quality
- Carrying out QA inspections, snagging and recording progress
- Managing site health and safety and ensuring works are carried out correctly
- Assisting with site logistics and organisation
- Liaising with the wider CCS project management team
- Using FONN for site records, QA, photographs and project information
- Using Excel, Outlook and other Microsoft packages for day-to-day site management and reporting
Experience & Qualifications
Applicants must have:
- Minimum 3 years' relevant supervisory or site management experience
- Experience working on construction projects with values of £2 million or above
- SMSTS or SSSTS
- Valid CSCS Manager or Supervisor card
- First Aid at Work
- Good practical knowledge of general building and construction
- Experience managing directly employed operatives and subcontractors
- Ability to read and understand drawings, specifications and construction information
- Good knowledge of Sussex and the surrounding area
- Full clean UK driving licence
- Good organisational and communication skills
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Outlook and other Microsoft packages
Experience using FONN would be beneficial, although training can be provided.
Experience using ASTA Powerproject would also be an advantage.
The following would be advantageous but are not essential:
- Temporary Works Supervisor
- PASMA
- IPAF
- Asbestos Awareness
- Other relevant construction and site management qualifications
The Person
We are looking for someone who is reliable, proactive, practical and organised. You will need to be comfortable taking ownership, making decisions and resolving problems on site without needing constant direction.
You should be able to manage operatives and subcontractors effectively while also being willing to get involved with general building works when required.
A trade or practical construction background would be advantageous, including carpentry, general building, multi-trade or groundworks, although we are open to applicants from other construction backgrounds with the right experience.
