Support Worker – Children’s Residential Home
Amore Social Care is recruiting on behalf of our client for passionate and dedicated Support Workers to join a children’s residential home.
We are looking for caring, reliable and enthusiastic individuals who are committed to making a positive difference in the lives of children and young people.
The Role
As a Support Worker, you will provide day-to-day care, support and encouragement to children and young people living within the residential home. You will help create a safe, stable and nurturing environment while supporting their individual needs and development.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality, person-centred care and support to children and young people.
- Build positive and trusting relationships with the children.
- Support children with their daily routines and activities.
- Promote independence, confidence and personal development.
- Support children with education, hobbies and community activities.
- Follow individual care plans, risk assessments and support strategies.
- Safely manage and respond to challenging behaviour.
- Follow safeguarding procedures and report any concerns appropriately.
- Complete accurate daily records, reports and handovers.
- Work effectively as part of a wider care team.
- Support the maintenance of a safe, clean and positive home environment.
- Communicate effectively with colleagues, managers and other professionals.
Requirements
- Previous experience working with children or young people is desirable.
- Experience within a children’s residential setting is advantageous.
- A relevant qualification in Children and Young People’s Workforce is desirable but not essential, depending on experience.
- Good understanding of safeguarding.
- Ability to support children with challenging behaviours.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- A caring, patient and resilient approach.
- Reliable and committed to providing high-quality care.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Willingness to work shifts, including evenings, weekends and sleep-ins as required.
