About the Role
We are a London-based commercial maintenance company seeking a reliable, experienced Self-Employed General Maintenance Technician to handle reactive call-outs and planned work across various restaurant venues in London and the surrounding areas.
This role is ideal for a skilled operative focused on general building repairs rather than specialized trades like plumbing or electrical work.
Key Responsibilities
- Performing maintenance and general repairs (e.g., doors, hinges, locks, patch plastering, wall/ceiling repairs, re-tiling).
- Carrying out reactive call-outs to resolve site issues promptly.
- Assessing larger repairs on-site to provide clear scopes for formal quotations.
- Delivering quality craftsmanship while maintaining clean, safe work environments in active commercial venues.
Requirements
- Proven experience in general building repair and maintenance.
- Must hold active Public Liability Insurance of at least £1,000,000.
- Fully self-employed with your own reliable transport and complete set of hand and power tools.
- Strong communication skills and professional site demeanor.
- Ability to work independently across mobile locations in Greater London.
Rates & Payment Terms
- Hourly Rate: £60.00/hr while on site.
- Billing Structure: 1-hour minimum charge per site visit. Subsequent time is billed in 15-minute increments at £15.00 per 15 minutes (rounded up to the nearest 15-minute block).
- Payment Terms: Monthly invoice payout on a Net 30 End of Month basis (e.g., invoices submitted for work completed in August are paid on the last business day of September).
