About the role
KI Metals is looking for an experienced Bandsaw Operator to join our steel stockholding warehouse in Birmingham. This is a hands-on role for someone who is confident cutting steel and metal products accurately, working safely, and supporting the wider warehouse team when required.
This role would suit someone who has worked in a steel stockholder, metal supplier, fabrication, engineering, manufacturing or busy warehouse environment.
Main duties
- Operate bandsaw machinery to cut steel and metal products to customer requirements.
- Read cutting lists, order paperwork and measurements accurately.
- Measure, mark and check steel before and after cutting.
- Handle steel products safely and carefully, following manual-handling procedures.
- Use forklift equipment where required, subject to valid experience/licence.
- Support loading, unloading, goods-in, goods-out and general warehouse duties when needed.
- Keep the cutting area organised, clean and safe.
- Work closely with warehouse and operations staff to keep orders moving on time.
- Report any machine, stock, measurement or safety issues promptly.
- Follow company procedures and health and safety rules at all times.
Essential requirements
- Previous bandsaw operating experience, ideally cutting steel or metal products.
- Forklift experience.
- Good understanding of measurements and accuracy.
- Able to read cutting lists and order paperwork.
- Comfortable with manual handling and practical warehouse work.
- Reliable, punctual and able to work Monday to Friday.
- Positive attitude and willingness to support the wider team.
Desirable experience
- Experience in steel stockholding, metal processing, engineering, fabrication or manufacturing.
- Experience handling long/heavy steel products.
- Valid forklift licence.
Working arrangements
- Full-time, permanent role.
- Monday to Friday, 8am to 6pm.
- One hour unpaid break each day.
- 45 paid hours per week.
- Fully on-site at Birmingham B18 7AD.
Pay
- £34,000 to £40,000 per year, depending on relevant experience and ability.
- Paid monthly.

We are looking for a reliable, practical and safety-conscious person who takes pride in accurate cutting and can work well as part of a busy warehouse team. This is not a desk-based role; it requires someone who is hands-on and comfortable working with steel products every day.
Pay: £34,000.00-£40,000.00 per year
