Accounts Assistant - Motor Trade
Location: TJ Vickers Shrewsbury, SY1 3AB
Salary: £26,000 - £30,000 per annum (depending on experience)
Job Type: Full-time, Permanent
Hours: Mon - Fri 9am - 5pm with 30 mins unpaid lunch break
About the Role
We are looking for a motivated, detail-oriented Accounts Assistant to join our busy accounts team in a well-established motor trade business. This role would suit an organised finance administrator who enjoys accurate, varied work and wants to develop their career in a fast-paced dealership environment.
The successful candidate will help keep the accounts department running smoothly by maintaining accurate financial records, supporting key accounting processes and assisting colleagues across the business with reliable day-to-day finance administration.
Reporting to the Company Accountant, you will work closely with colleagues across sales, service, warranty and administration to ensure financial information is processed accurately and on time.
Key Responsibilities
- Processing purchase invoices and supplier payments
- Bank reconciliations and daily cash postings
- Maintaining sales and purchase ledgers
- Processing vehicle stock funding and manufacturer payments
- Assisting with month-end procedures and management accounts
- Credit control and customer account management
- Processing ad-hoc bank payments.
- Reconciling accounts and investigating discrepancies
- Setting up Direct Debit payments
- Filing and maintaining accurate financial records
- Providing administrative support to the Company Accountant and wider team
Requirements
- Previous experience in an Accounts Assistant, Accounts Administrator, Purchase Ledger Clerk or similar finance role
- Motor trade experience is highly desirable but not essential
- Good understanding of accounting principles and bookkeeping procedures
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications
- Experience using accounting systems is important, and familiarity with dealer management systems would be advantageous.
- Excellent organisational and time-management skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- A professional and positive attitude
