C&N Chambers Seafood is a growing shellfish processing factory based in Kilkeel, Co. Down. We process cooked and raw seafood, supplying high-quality products to customers worldwide.
We are seeking a dynamic, proactive and experienced Factory Production Manager to join our growing team and add value to our business.
This is a pivotal role within the company, with responsibility for overseeing the daily production operation, overseeing the full production site, ensuring optimal efficiency, maintaining high standards of quality and driving continuous improvement throughout the plant.
The ideal candidate will be passionate about production excellence, have strong leadership and problem-solving skills, and thrive in a fast-paced environment where organisation, efficiency and attention to detail are essential.
We operate day shifts only – no night shifts.
The Role
As Factory Production Manager, you will take responsibility for the day-to-day running of our production plant, ensuring production plans are achieved efficiently, safely and to the required quality standards.
You will be joining a growing team, so you will not be on your own. We are looking for someone who can take ownership of the production operation, lead from the front and work closely with the wider team to improve processes and drive the business forward.
Your leadership will be instrumental in improving production efficiency, streamlining processes, developing our production team and maintaining a productive, safe and well-organised factory environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and coordinate all aspects of factory production, ensuring timely and efficient output in line with company goals.
- Manage all production plans and ensure targets are achieved.
- Manage the day-to-day production operation within the plant.
- Coordinate production workflow across multiple seafood products.
- Monitor daily production output and identify opportunities to improve efficiency.
- Manage, motivate and lead production staff.
- Plan and coordinate staffing requirements to meet production demands.
- Ensure products are manufactured on time and to the required quality standards.
- Drive continuous improvement throughout the production plant.
- Identify opportunities to streamline processes, improve productivity and reduce waste.
- Monitor production KPIs and use information and data to improve performance.
- Oversee quality control procedures and ensure any issues are identified and addressed promptly.
- Ensure production processes comply with food safety, HACCP and company standards.
- Work closely with other departments to optimise production workflows and resolve operational issues.
- Manage inventory levels and work with the wider team to ensure the smooth flow of raw materials and finished products.
- Maintain accurate production records, metrics and documentation.
- Troubleshoot production and operational issues and implement practical solutions.
- Maintain a safe, clean and productive working environment.
- Lead and mentor production staff to enhance performance, motivation and productivity.
- Forward plan production requirements and anticipate potential challenges.
- Support the continued growth and development of the business.
Skills & Experience
The ideal candidate will have:
- Proven experience in food production management, ideally within a fast-paced manufacturing or food processing environment.
- Strong understanding of production systems and KPIs.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and manage production teams.
- Excellent organisational and forward-planning skills.
- Knowledge of quality control processes and continuous improvement.
- Good understanding of HACCP and food safety requirements.
- Strong problem-solving skills with a focus on operational efficiency.
- Ability to analyse production data and make informed decisions.
- Strong understanding of production planning and workflow.
- A hands-on approach to management with the ability to take ownership and lead from the front.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively with different departments.
- Mechanical knowledge would be advantageous.
- Experience with production management or ERP systems would be advantageous.
