An exciting opportunity has arisen to lead one of Dorset's longest-established private dental practices. Following the relocation of our current Clinic Manager after an incredible 30 years in the role, we're looking for an exceptional leader to build on a strong legacy and guide Sturminster Dental Care through its next chapter of growth.
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced people leader with strong commercial awareness and business acumen who can inspire the team, drive operational excellence and deliver sustainable business growth while ensuring every patient receives an outstanding experience.
Whilst dental experience isn't essential, we are looking for an experienced leader with the commercial awareness, operational expertise and people management skills to successfully lead a busy private practice. Our experienced clinicians provide a comprehensive range of private treatments including family dentistry, cosmetic dentistry, orthodontics, endodontics, restorative dentistry and hygiene services, delivering exceptional care in a welcoming and professional environment.

As Clinic Manager, you'll play a pivotal role in delivering both the day-to-day operational management and long-term strategic success of the practice. Working closely with your Director of Clinic Support (DOCS), you'll have full responsibility for the operational, financial and commercial performance of the practice.
This role is about more than managing the day-to-day. We're looking for someone who can lead with confidence, inspire their team, embrace change and create an environment where colleagues feel supported and patients continue to receive an exceptional experience.
You'll be responsible for balancing operational excellence with commercial success while maintaining the warm, family feel that has made Sturminster Dental Care so successful.
- Lead, motivate and inspire a high-performing clinical and administrative team.
- Foster a positive, supportive and collaborative culture.
- Conduct daily huddles, one-to-ones and monthly practice meetings.
- Recruit, onboard and develop colleagues.
- Manage annual leave, sickness absence, performance and employee relations matters.
- Coach and mentor colleagues to achieve their full potential.
- Build strong relationships with clinicians and support teams.
- Take ownership of the practice's financial performance with full P&L accountability.
- Analyse KPIs, financial reports and operational data to identify opportunities for growth.
- Deliver revenue, EBITDA and Annual Operating Plan (AOP) targets.
- Translate business insights into practical actions that improve productivity and profitability.
- Conduct monthly business reviews and implement action plans.
- Approve payroll, associate payments and practice expenses.
- Support local marketing initiatives to increase patient growth and strengthen the practice's reputation.
- Ensure the smooth day-to-day running of the practice.
- Optimise clinician diaries, recalls and utilisation.
- Oversee equipment servicing and maintenance.
- Manage stock levels and quarterly stock takes.
- Handle patient complaints professionally, empathetically and efficiently.
- Ensure excellent CQC compliance and health and safety standards.
- Build strong working relationships with clinicians, associates and central support teams including Finance, Marketing, Recruitment, HR and IT.
- Attend quarterly leadership meetings with the Director of Clinic Support.
- Participate in Envisage Dental's annual One Team event.
- Support neighbouring practices where required.
You're an experienced leader who enjoys developing people, you'll bring a strong commercial mindset, excellent business acumen and the confidence to make informed decisions that balance operational efficiency, financial performance and outstanding patient care.
