About the Role
We are looking for a friendly, enthusiastic and reliable After School Club Play Worker to join the team at Whitchurch Primary School and help support the continued expansion of our well‑established wraparound care provision.
Due to growing demand from parents, the club is increasing its capacity — and we are seeking someone who can help us deliver a warm, inclusive and engaging after‑school environment for children aged 4–11.
Working alongside an experienced Club Leader, you will help run the daily after‑school sessions, supporting children to relax, play and enjoy a wide range of activities at the end of the school day. You’ll assist with setting up play zones, supervising activities, encouraging positive behaviour, and ensuring every child feels welcome, safe and supported.
This is a great role for someone who enjoys working with children, brings creativity and a caring approach to their work, and thrives as part of a positive school community. Whether you already have experience in childcare or are just beginning your journey working with young people, we would love to hear from you.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the Childcare leader with the set-up, delivery and pack-down of sessions
- Help create a warm, inclusive and welcoming atmosphere for all children
- Engage children in a variety of fun, age-appropriate activities (e.g., games, crafts, creative play)
- Build positive relationships with children, parents, school staff and colleagues
- Ensure the safety, wellbeing and enjoyment of all children in the club
- Follow safeguarding, health & safety and behaviour policies at all times
What We’re Looking For
- Experience working with children (paid or voluntary)
- Experience working in a Primary School environment (desirable)
- A caring, positive and can‑do attitude
- Someone dependable, approachable and happy to get stuck in
- A relevant childcare, play work or teaching assistant qualification (desirable)
- Paediatric First Aid, Food Hygiene and Safeguarding qualifications (desirable - training can be provided)
- The ability to obtain an enhanced DBS certificate
Additional Benefits
- Equipment, resources and uniform provided
- Opportunities to progress within the company via increased responsibility and promotions
- Private Health Care (via Salary Sacrifice)
- Cycle to Work Scheme
- Ongoing internal and external CPD to increase, improve and add to your management and teaching tool kit (annual staff training week, staff development team, internal training modules, first aid and safeguarding training)
