Bring Your Expertise – Education & Experience
- 3 years proven ability and experience in set-up, utilising and operating assigned CNC Lathe(s) as a Lathe Setter Operator in a high-volume engineering manufacturing.
- Accomplished in interpreting technical drawings.
- Proficient in using various calibrated instruments to check dimensions.
- Proven ability to support machine procedures for the production of machined parts and their associated automated cells and processes.
- Effective interpersonal skills with good verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to share knowledge, provide effective training/mentoring and support to less skilled members of Lathe team.
- Relevant experience in preventative maintenance and manufacturing processes.
- Demonstrative in understanding importance of attention to detail with regard relevant data, paperwork and setting sheets.
- Proven experience in working unsupervised while maintaining high standard of productivity aligned to instructions and quality.
- accurately and timely.
- Minimum 3 GCSEs (or equivalent) at grade A–C/4–9 including Maths and English (Plus above proven experience);
- OR a Level 2–3 engineering qualification (e.g. NVQ/BTEC in Mechanical Engineering or Manufacturing) (advantageous)
- Intermediate level in Windows and MS Office software with good file management skills.
- Familiarity with Fanuc controls and automated or semi-automated cells is advantageous.
Your role:
· Working late shift, 14h00 to 23h00 Mon-Thurs with a 30 min meal break, 14h00-20h00 Mon-Fri; 40-hour work week.
· Set-up and operation competently 3-Axis CNC Lathe machines.
· As needed, perform preventative maintenance on assigned Lathes including all swarf and waste removal from the machine.
· Carry out daily maintenance on machines such as verify oil / coolant levels along with filtration systems.
· Constant alert to any changes in machine performance and operation, promptly report any issues to your line manager.
· Support and maintain the company Quality systems in accordance with the Quality Management System, work instructions and control plans.
· Supporting and maintain overall shop efficiency by keeping work areas clean and safe and in line with 5S standards.
· Report all hazards or incidents to line manager. Cooperate and coordinate with other machinists for usage of shared shop equipment.
· Performing other duties as necessary.
· This is a varied role with a mix of production components with the opportunity to develop a breadth of skills including learning to support Automated cells.

Salary range: £34k-£43k (£16.34 - £20.67 per hour) (depending on experience)
