Salary: £28,000 - £30,000 per annum (depending on experience)

➡️ About the Role
Due to continued and rapid business expansion, we’re looking to appoint an experienced Senior Payroll Administrator to strengthen our payroll function and support our growing workforce across multiple entities.
This is a key role within a varied and fast-paced payroll environment in the domiciliary care sector. It’s ideal for someone who enjoys complexity, takes pride in accuracy, and is confident juggling multiple payrolls, pay frequencies, and pay structures.
You’ll play an important role in the day-to-day running of payroll, while also supporting the Payroll Manager with system integrity, acquisitions, and continuous improvement of payroll processes.
This role is based in our Head Office in central Southampton, however, can be flexible with working from home arrangements up to twice a week after successful completion of probation period, if preferred.
Key Responsibilities
- Managing and maintaining the Sage payroll system, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely processing
- Processing starters and leavers, including final payments, P45s, and relevant statutory calculations
- Acting as a first point of contact for payroll-related queries, providing clear and supportive guidance to employees and managers
- Managing payrolled benefits in kind (BIKs), including changes throughout the year and ensuring correct tax treatment
- Supporting the Payroll Manager with new business acquisitions, including onboarding, data validation, parallel runs, and checking the quality of payroll migrations
- Administering pension schemes and auto-enrolment, including assessments, postponements, opt-ins/opt-outs, and statutory communications
- Processing and inputting employee expenses in line with company policies
- Assisting with payroll reporting, reconciliations, and audit queries where required
- Helping to identify opportunities to improve payroll processes, controls, and efficiency
About You
- Proven experience in a senior or experienced payroll role
- Background in a complex, multi-payroll environment with multiple pay frequencies and variable pay rates
- Strong working knowledge of Sage 50 Payroll
- Solid understanding of UK payroll legislation, including auto-enrolment, National Minimum Wage calculations and statutory payments
- Comfortable working in a sector with nuanced payroll requirements (experience in care or similar sectors is a big plus)
- Highly organised, detail-oriented, and calm under pressure
- Confident communicator who can explain payroll matters clearly and professionally
