MIG / TIG Welder Fabricator

The Role
We are looking for an experienced MIG / TIG Welder Fabricator to join a busy and established engineering and metal fabrication environment in Basingstoke.
This is a hands-on role suited to someone who is confident working from engineering drawings and can take responsibility for producing high-quality welded and fabricated components from start to finish.
You will be working on a variety of bespoke metalwork and sheet-metal fabrication projects, so the ability to work accurately, maintain high standards and adapt to different jobs is essential.
Key Responsibilities
- MIG and TIG welding of mild steel, stainless steel and aluminium components
- Fabricating and assembling metalwork from engineering drawings
- Working with sheet metal, box section, angle, plate and other materials
- Reading and interpreting engineering/fabrication drawings
- Measuring, marking out, cutting and preparing materials
- Producing clean, accurate and consistent welds
- Tack welding, setting up and fabricating components prior to final welding
- Working on both one-off/bespoke projects and repeat production work
- Using workshop machinery and hand/power tools safely and effectively
- Inspecting your own work to ensure it meets required quality standards
- Maintaining a clean, organised and safe working environment
- Working as part of a small, skilled fabrication team
About You
The ideal candidate will have:
- Proven experience as a MIG/TIG Welder Fabricator
- Strong MIG welding skills, with TIG experience
- Previous experience within a sheet-metal or general fabrication environment
- Ability to read and work from engineering drawings
- Good understanding of fabrication techniques and welding processes
- Strong attention to detail and pride in your workmanship
- Ability to work independently and manage your workload
- Good measuring and setting-out skills
- A practical, problem-solving approach
- Good understanding of workshop health and safety
Desirable
- Experience welding stainless steel and aluminium
- Experience with bespoke sheet-metal fabrication
- Experience working on enclosures, ducting, louvres, frames or similar fabricated products
- Relevant welding/fabrication qualifications
