This is a varied, hands-on position for someone who takes pride in their work and enjoys keeping buildings and outdoor areas well maintained. It is not a skilled trade position; specialist repairs and technical work are completed by our Lead Maintenance Person or approved contractors.

- Safely operate cleaning, gardening and maintenance equipment following training.
- Carry out scheduled visual and basic functional checks of wheelchairs, Zimmer frames and similar mobility equipment using approved checklists.

- Remove defective equipment from use and refer it to the Lead Maintenance Person—specialist repairs are not part of this role.
- Assist with moving furniture and equipment safely when rooms are being prepared or refurbished.
- Complete basic, non-skilled maintenance tasks as directed by the Lead Maintenance Person.
- Keep maintenance areas, tools and materials clean, secure and properly organised.
- Maintain accurate records of completed work and equipment checks.
- Report building defects, hazards and health and safety concerns promptly.
- Follow health and safety, infection-control, COSHH, fire-safety and safeguarding procedures.
- Work respectfully around residents and minimise disruption to their daily lives.
- Undertake other reasonable duties appropriate to the position.

- Confident using basic gardening and floor-cleaning equipment.
- Observant and able to identify and report defects or safety concerns.
- Respectful, patient and comfortable working in a care-home environment.
- Able to work independently while remaining accountable to the Lead Maintenance Person.
- Willing to undertake relevant training.
Experience in a care home, healthcare, school, hotel or similar environment would be helpful but is not essential.
