Job Summary
We are looking for a reliable, confident and experienced Dog Walker to join our small, friendly and successful dog-walking business.
This is initially a part-time position, with the potential for the role to grow for the right person. Current working hours are approximately 10am–3pm on a part-time basis.
We are looking for someone who genuinely loves and understands dogs and is confident handling a variety of breeds, sizes and personalities. You’ll need to be dependable, flexible and able to use your own initiative, while also being happy to take direction, work as part of a team and follow our established policies and procedures.
Above all, the safety, happiness and welfare of the dogs in our care must always be your priority.
The role will involve collecting dogs from their homes, safely transporting them to suitable walking locations and walking groups of up to four dogs for either 30 minutes or one hour.
Responsibilities & Requirements
- A genuine passion for dogs and their welfare
- Confident handling dogs of different breeds, sizes and temperaments
- A suitable car or van with enough space to safely transport dogs and accommodate dog crates
- A full UK driving licence
- Previous experience working with dogs is desirable
- A good understanding of dog behaviour and general pet care
- Reliable, responsible and highly organised
- Confident working independently as well as part of a team
- Able to use initiative and make sensible decisions while out with the dogs
- Friendly, personable and energetic
- Excellent communication skills
- Happy to work outdoors in all weather — come rain or shine!
- A relevant animal care or dog-related qualification is desirable but not essential
- Must live in St Albans / Harpenden or the surrounding area
