About Us
We are a thriving, family run garden centre dedicated to helping our customers create beautiful outdoor spaces. We pride ourselves on a friendly atmosphere, excellent customer service and a passionate team. We are looking for an energetic, organised and driven individual to join us in a varied role that offers career progression into buying responsibilities.
The Role
This is a dynamic, hands-on role where no two days are the same. You will be the backbone of our stock operations, ensuring the smooth flow of goods in and out, maintaining our yard, and directly helping our customers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Managing goods in/out: overseeing storage and keeping the yard organised and safe. Handling waste removal between our sites.
- Driving & Deliveries: Safely driving company vehicles to deliver plants and products directly to our customers.
- Customer Service & Sales: Assisting customers on the shop floor, answering queries and supporting the sales team to deliver an excellent experience.
- Stock & Systems: Learning and using our EPOS (till/inventory) system, assisting with stock control and keeping track of inventory.
- Assist with Maintenance: Carrying out general maintenance tasks around our garden centre to keep the site looking its best.
Career Progression
We believe in growing our talent from within. For the right candidate, this role is a stepping stone. As you master our stock control and EPOS systems, you will be trained and given the opportunity to take on buying responsibilities, helping to select, source and manage products we sell.
What We Are Looking For:
- A valid and clean driving licence (essential for delivery duties).
- 2 years’ experience in a retail or warehouse environment.
- An existing forklift licence or willingness to be trained.
- A physical, hands-on approach to work, comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions. Physically fit and able to lift heavy loads.
- Practical in problem solving.
- Strong communication skills with a passion for delivering excellent customer service.
- A positive, proactive attitude and a willingness to learn new systems (EPOS).
- Strong numerical and organisational skills with a keen eye for detail (crucial for stock control and future buying).
- Flexibility to work every other weekend.
What We Offer:
- Competitive hourly rate/salary (dependent on experience).
- Generous staff discount.
- Full training on systems and machinery where required.
- Clear career development pathway into retail buying.
- A supportive, friendly team environment.
- A company wellness scheme.
If you are ready to roll up your sleeves, drive our business forward and grow your career with us, we want to hear from you!
