Responsibilities
As our Finance Assistant, you'll be an integral part of our finance team, supporting a wide range of financial activities while helping to ensure our operations run smoothly. Working closely with your colleagues, you'll gain experience across multiple areas of finance as you develop your skills. Your responsibilities will include:
Sales Ledger (Projects)
- Set up and onboard new customer accounts.
- Issue pro-forma invoices.
- Raise project invoices
- Resolve customer account queries.
VAT – Quarterly
- Prepare and assist with the submission of quarterly VAT returns for Allaway Acoustics Ltd.
- Support Overseas VAT administration and compliance.
General Finance & Administration
- Assist in completing National Statistics returns.
- Maintain accurate digital finance records within our paperless filing system.
- Maintain, reconcile and administer the petty cash account.
- Support the finance team with ad hoc finance and administrative duties.
Expenses
- Process employee expenses, including credit card and mileage claims.
- Assist with implementing an expenses app/portal.
Payroll & Pensions (AML)
- Set up new employees on Sage 50 Payroll.
- Process payroll amendments and complete monthly payroll calculations.
- Run the monthly payroll for AML employees.
- Upload monthly pension contribution files to the pension provider.
- Issue pension enrolment and welcome letters to new employees.
- Respond to employee pension queries.
- Maintain accurate payroll and pension records, ensuring confidentiality and compliance with company procedures.
Experience
- Ideally working towards an AAT qualification (we provide full training, so eagerness to learn is key!).
- Strong computer skills, with proficiency in Sage 50 Accounts and Microsoft Excel.
- Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.
- Good communication skills and the ability to manage a varied workload.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a small, supportive team.
