Summary
Due to the continued development of our provision, we are seeking a highly committed, resilient and skilled HLTA to join our teacher led SEND Hub team. This role involves supporting the class teacher working with children who present with a wide range of complex and often overlapping needs. Our hub caters for a maximum of 8 children and has a staff team of 3. This is a highly rewarding role, but also one that requires energy, flexibility, emotional resilience and a deep commitment to inclusive practice. We are a warm, inclusive primary school serving a community with high levels of deprivation. We pride ourselves on meeting the needs of all pupils and have:
- A well-established SEND Hub supporting pupils with significant additional needs
- A high proportion of pupils with complex SEND
- A skilled team with expertise in communication, sensory needs and behaviour support
- A strong commitment to nurture, dignity and independence for every child
You will work as part of a highly skilled team to support pupils with needs including:
- Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), including demand-avoidant profiles (PDA)
- ADHD and social, emotional and mental health needs
- Non-verbal communication and significant speech, language and communication needs
- Sensory processing differences and sensory regulation needs
- Pica and complex behaviours that require vigilant, proactive support
- Intimate care and personal care needs

This position is term time only, please note the salary quoted is full time equivalent. If successful, the salary received will be paid on a pro rata basis.

Essential Qualifications
- Holds HLTA qualification (or equivalent)
- Has experience of, or willingness to work within, a functional/Equals-style curriculum
- Is calm, patient and highly adaptable, responding positively to changing situations
Demonstrates strong de-escalation skills and emotional resilience

Essential Experience
- Support learning through a functional, highly adapted curriculum including Equals
- Can use or is willing to learn a Total Communication approach
- Has strong experience working with children with complex SEND needs
- Has practical understanding of ASC, ADHD and sensory needs
Is confident supporting pupils with personal/intimate care needs

Desirable Experience
- Deliver support using a Total Communication approach (e.g. visuals, objects of reference, AAC where appropriate)
- Use de-escalation strategies and relational approaches to support behaviour and emotional regulation
- Create a calm, structured and predictable environment to support pupils needs
Support pupils to develop independence, communication and engagement
