Restaurant Duty Manager
Full-Time | 45 Hours per Week | Salaried Position
We are looking for an experienced, enthusiastic, and hands-on Restaurant Duty Manager to join our team.
This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who enjoys working alongside their team on the restaurant floor, leading by example, and delivering exceptional guest experiences. You will take responsibility for the day-to-day operation of the restaurant during your shift, ensuring smooth service while motivating, supporting, and developing the front-of-house team. We are looking for someone who isn't afraid to roll up their sleeves, get involved in service, and help wherever needed to ensure every guest receives outstanding hospitality.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the restaurant, front of house team during service, ensuring smooth day-to-day operations.
- Deliver outstanding customer service and create memorable dining experiences.
- Lead by example with a hands-on approach, supporting the team wherever needed.
- Train, coach, and develop new team members to maintain exceptional service standards.
- Ensure company standards for food, beverage, cleanliness, and presentation are consistently met.
- Handle guest enquiries, complaints, and feedback professionally and efficiently.
- Support stock control, ordering, and daily operational tasks.
- Ensure compliance with food safety, health & safety, and licensing regulations.
Opening Duties
- Open the restaurant and complete all opening procedures.
- Ensure all dining areas, and service stations are fully prepared for service.
- Carry out equipment and till checks.
- Ensure adequate stock levels and replenish where necessary.
- Conduct pre-service team briefings and allocate duties.
Closing & End-of-Day Duties
- Lead the closing shift and ensure the restaurant is left to company standards.
- Complete end-of-day cashing up and reconcile tills.
- Produce and verify End of Day (EOD) reports.
- Secure cash and complete all financial procedures accurately.
- Complete closing checklists and management handover notes.
- Ensure the restaurant is clean, secure, and ready for the next trading day.
- Lock and secure the premises in accordance with company procedures.
What We're Looking For
- Previous experience as a Restaurant Duty Manager, Restaurant Supervisor, or Team Leader in a busy, quality-led restaurant.
- A confident, hands-on leader who enjoys working alongside the team and leading by example.
- Excellent communication, organisational, and interpersonal skills.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to make confident decisions and remain calm under pressure.
- Exceptional attention to detail and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience with opening and closing procedures, cash handling, till reconciliation, and end-of-day reporting.
- The ability to motivate, coach, and develop a high-performing front-of-house team.
- A proactive, positive attitude with excellent time management and a strong work ethic.
- Flexible to work evenings, weekends, and bank holidays.
- A genuine passion for hospitality and delivering outstanding guest experiences.
What We Offer
- Full-time salaried position (45 hours per week).
- Base salary of £31,000–£33,000 per annum, depending on experience.
- Share of service charge worth approximately £6,500–£7,500 per annum.
- Total annual earnings package of approximately £38,000–£40,500.
