Mahogany Strides is a residential children's home providing care and support to young people who may have experienced trauma, challenging experiences and difficulties managing their emotions and behaviour.
We are looking for an experienced and confident Deputy Manager to join our team on a temporary basis for a minimum of 6 months, with the possibility of the role being extended.
You will work closely with the Registered Manager and play an important role in the day-to-day running of the home.
The role
As Deputy Manager, you will help ensure that the home provides a safe, stable and nurturing environment for our young people.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Supporting the Registered Manager with the day-to-day running of the home.
- Leading and supporting the staff team.
- Building positive relationships with young people.
- Supporting staff to manage challenging behaviour and incidents.
- Taking responsibility for the home in the Registered Manager's absence.
- Supporting care planning, risk assessments and reviews.
- Ensuring records and documentation are completed to a high standard.
- Supporting staff supervision, training and development.
- Working with social workers, families, education and other professionals.
- Promoting safeguarding and the welfare of young people.
- Supporting the home to meet Ofsted regulations and standards.
About you
We are looking for someone who is experienced, reliable, confident and passionate about residential childcare.
You will ideally have:
- Previous experience working in a residential children's home.
- Experience working at Senior, Team Leader or Deputy Manager level.
- A strong understanding of safeguarding and children's residential care.
- Experience supporting young people with challenging behaviour and complex needs.
- The ability to lead and motivate a team.
- Good communication and organisational skills.
- Confidence in making decisions and managing difficult situations.
- A genuine commitment to improving outcomes for young people.
- A relevant Level 3 qualification in Residential Childcare, or willingness to work towards one.
What we're looking for
We need someone who can hit the ground running and bring experience, consistency and strong leadership to the team.
This is a hands-on management role. You will be expected to work alongside staff, spend time with the young people and be actively involved in the day-to-day running of the home.

Pay: £34,000.00-£40,000.00 per year
