On Track Plant Specialist - 12 month opportunity
Are you passionate about railway operations and keen to play a key role in delivering a safe, efficient and reliable railway? We're looking for an On Track Plant (OTP) Specialist to join our team and help drive excellence across our operational delivery.
This is an exciting 12-month opportunity with the potential to become permanent, offering you the chance to make a real impact while growing your expertise in a supportive and collaborative environment.
As an OTP Specialist, you'll be at the heart of planning, coordinating and overseeing the safe and effective use of On Track Plant to deliver our route work bank. You'll ensure everything we do aligns with legislation, Network Rail standards and industry best practice - while supporting continuous improvement across OTP operations.
You'll work closely with colleagues, suppliers and local management teams, acting as a trusted expert and champion for high standards, safety and innovation.
What you'll be doing
In this role, you will:
- Support the planning and coordination of OTP operations at Delivery Unit and Route level
- Provide assurance that all lifting operations comply with regulations (including LOLER), Network Rail and Rail Industry Standards
- Act as the technical lead for OTP, delivering clear briefings to maintenance teams and suppliers
- Offer expert advice and guidance on OTP operations to local management
- Coach and mentor supervisors and senior managers, supporting them to carry out effective OTP assurance
- Contribute to and support national initiatives to improve OTP performance
- Carry out assurance checks, inspections and surveillance, identifying both good practice and areas for improvement
- Provide out-of-hours support for live lifting operations when required
- Build strong relationships as the key point of contact for OTP suppliers, ensuring compliance and collaboration
- Support incident investigations, providing technical expertise and insight
