Senior Healthcare Assistant
At Albany care Ltd, our passion is care and support. We offer residential, dementia care for older people at our 5 high quality care homes across the UK.
It’s not just our resident’s health needs you’ll help meet. You’ll also help them to get more out of life – to be more independent, to enjoy a wider range of activities, and, above all, to have more choice in their day to day life. You’ll lend a hand with everything from helping someone get ready for an eagerly anticipated family visit, to supporting someone who’s trying to build up their mobility during a period of respite.
Whether you’re assisting a member of staff, getting involved with a daily activity, filling in vital paperwork or lending someone a hand to eat their lunch, you’ll make all the residents you care for feel safe, comfortable and secure. In other words, you’ll make them feel right at home.
The skills you’ll need
To join us as a Senior Healthcare Assistant, you’ll need previous experience working with older people in residential care. You will need to be flexible, patient, caring, organised and great with people. You will have strong communication skills both verbally and in writing and also will have completed (or be working towards) your NVQ 3 in Health and Social Care (or equivalent).
It will be your responsibility to build strong relationships with all those around you, making sure family and friends feel welcomed, that health care professionals are kept well-informed, and that you’re keeping your Manager up to speed with residents’ needs and progress. A team player, you can follow guidelines and policies easily, and will have good written skills, as you will need to write up care plans.
You’ll also need to be flexible to work shifts on a rota basis.
