We are looking for a reliable, practical and enthusiastic General Maintenance Assistant to join our friendly team at Knockerdown Cottages.
We are flexible in how this role is arranged and would be happy to consider someone looking for a part-time employed position, as well as an experienced self-employed/freelance maintenance professional looking for regular work. The working arrangement can be discussed depending on the successful applicant.
Based at our holiday cottage site near Ashbourne, this is a varied and hands-on role supporting the day-to-day maintenance of our cottages, facilities and grounds. No two days are quite the same, so we're looking for someone who enjoys practical work, can turn their hand to a range of tasks and takes pride in helping to keep the site well maintained and looking its best for our guests.
You'll work alongside our wider site team, while also being comfortable working independently and using your own initiative when required.
Main Duties
- Carrying out general maintenance and repairs within our holiday cottages
- Basic plumbing, decorating and minor repairs
- General DIY and maintenance tasks across the site
- Distribution and movement of linen between cottages
- Gardening and general grounds maintenance
- Assisting with the maintenance of our indoor swimming pool (full training provided)
- Identifying and reporting any maintenance issues requiring further attention
- Assisting with other general maintenance tasks as required
About You
We're looking for someone who:
- Has good practical, DIY and general maintenance skills
- Is comfortable carrying out practical and manual tasks
- Takes pride in completing work to a high standard
- Is reliable, trustworthy and punctual
- Can work independently and use their own initiative
- Has a positive and flexible approach to work
- Is happy to work as part of a wider site team
- Is willing to assist with additional weekend and holiday cover when required

Hours: Mondays and Fridays – approximately 8 hours per day / 16 hours per week -Additional weekend and holiday cover will also be required from time to time, depending on the needs of the business.
