We are seeking an Apprentice Greenkeeper to join our experienced and dedicated team, working on the maintenance and development of our 18-hole golf course.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to start a career in greenkeeping. The successful candidate will work alongside skilled professionals, learning how to present, maintain, and improve the golf course throughout the year using a fleet of machinery. Training will be provided both on the job and through a distance learning apprenticeship programme.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with the day-to-day maintenance and presentation of the 18-hole golf course
- Learn to operate and maintain a range of modern greenkeeping machinery and equipment
- Support course improvement projects throughout the year
- Work both under supervision and independently when required
- Follow all health and safety procedures at all times
- Carry out a variety of outdoor tasks in all weather conditions
About the Role
This is a varied and rewarding position, where no two days are the same. The role involves a wide range of practical outdoor duties, so applicants should be:
- Physically fit and capable of manual outdoor work
- Comfortable working in all weather conditions
- Able to follow both oral and written instructions
- Reliable, hardworking, and eager to learn
- Able to start work early in the mornings
- Flexible to work overtime and weekends when required
You will report directly to the Head Greenkeeper and will receive support and guidance from an experienced team as you develop your skills.
Training & Development
The successful candidate will complete a Greenkeeping Apprenticeship, working towards the relevant NVQ qualification and any additional training required to become a qualified Greenkeeper.
