Job Description: Classic Car Workshop Controller
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Workshop controller due to the expansion of the team in our Malton repair shops. Specialising in Classic and sports cars, Malton coachworks are in their 35th year of business and seek a motivated individual to take the business to an expanded level.
The role of the Workshop controller is pivotal to a successful and efficient workshop. The role requires a driven individual who is prepared to be measured on timescales and milestones in both the retail and sales sectors, this will be achieved by utilising the strong team of technicians and sub departments across a multi-site business.
The Workshop controller will work with and report to the Service Manager in order to communicate and inform other departments of current statuses whilst achieving and maintaining the workshop delivery targets. Daily liaison is expected prior to the morning meeting where stakeholder discussions are undertaken.
Driving and maintaining a strong team ethos of high performance and excellence, whilst ensuring the customer service and our “brand” are held in high regard within the industry, with new and existing client base.
Responsibilities:
As the Workshop controller you will be responsible for planning/managing and daily reporting on a busy department, maintaining and preparing both sales vehicles and retail vehicles.
You will be responsible for workflow management in the workshop and will be able to achieve high levels of productivity and efficiency across your department.
Specific tasks below.
· Vehicle movements based on daily plan
· Carrying out internal Quality Checks prior to Acceptance
· Offering of vehicles for Acceptance
· Continuous communication with the Managers/technicians and relevant stores department to ensure there is control over costings and timescales.
· Staff workload management
· Collaborative planning with other departments/senior staff
· Cost authorisation
· Maintaining high presentation standards
·Carrying out some technical support/overseeing tasks
· Carrying out some vehicle repairs
· Maintain health & safety standards to ensure a clean and safe working environment in the workplace
Skills and Qualifications:
Essential-
· Main Dealer workshop experience or similar with an excellent understanding of technical requirements, have the capability of managing a team and delivering high standards of workmanship on a long term basis.
· NVQ level 3 in motor vehicle maintenance or equivalent higher qualification
· Must be conversant with MS office and adaptive to garage management and reporting software.
· A keen eye for quality, processes and procedure understanding is paramount
· Strong communication and organisational skills.
· Proven experience of delivering successful projects and continual improvement within a workshop environment
· A current UK driving licence

Schedule: Mon-Friday- 40 hours
Work Location: In person- Based at any Malton Coachworks site- but may be required to travel periodically
