Job Overview
The Head of Procurement and Planning is responsible for overseeing the procurement strategy, supply chain operations, and inventory management to ensure the seamless flow of materials and services throughout CC&D. This role involves the strategic selection and management of suppliers, negotiation of contracts, and optimisation of supply chain processes, ensuring alignment with the company's goals and objectives. A key aspect of this role is leveraging the ERP system to enhance operational efficiency, data accuracy, and decision-making capabilities.
Duties
Procurement Strategy and Supplier Management:
- Develop and implement comprehensive procurement strategies to ensure the timely and cost-effective acquisition of goods and services.
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, negotiating contracts and ensuring compliance with company policies and quality standards.
- Identify and mitigate risks in the supply chain by diversifying suppliers (if appropriate) and implementing contingency plans.
Supply Chain and Inventory Planning:
- Oversee the planning process, ensuring accurate forecasting and alignment with production schedules.
- Optimise inventory levels to balance the cost of holding inventory with the need for operational efficiency, avoiding stockouts or overstock situations.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including production, logistics, and finance, to align supply chain activities with business objectives.
ERP System Utilisation:
- Leverage the ERP system to manage procurement processes, inventory levels, and supplier performance.
- Ensure accurate data entry, integration, and analysis within the ERP system to support informed decision-making and enhance supply chain visibility.
- Lead initiatives to upgrade or implement ERP modules related to procurement and supply chain, ensuring they meet the evolving needs of the business.
Team Leadership and Development:
- Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing procurement and planning team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and accountability.
- Set clear performance goals, conduct regular performance reviews, and provide feedback and coaching to team members.
- Stay informed about industry trends and best practices, integrating them into the team's approach and strategy.
Financial and Risk Management:
- Manage the procurement budget, ensuring cost-effective purchasing practices while maintaining quality and delivery standards.
- Monitor and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) related to procurement and supply chain activities, making adjustments as needed to meet targets.
- Identify and mitigate risks related to supplier reliability, market volatility, and regulatory.
Leadership Team:
- Contribute to high-level decision-making processes that affect CC&D.
- Assist in prioritising company initiatives and projects, ensuring alignment with overall business objectives.
- Foster a collaborative environment between departments to enhance communication and streamline processes.
- Lead by example, promoting ethical behaviour, accountability, and a client-centric approach in all company activities.
- Represent the company at industry events, conferences, and meetings, serving as an ambassador for the brand.
Experience
- Proven experience in a similar senior leadership role in a manufacturing business
- Extensive knowledge of ERP systems
- Strong working knowledge of industry regulations and legal guidelines
