Overview
Chiltern Connections Ltd is looking for an organised and reliable Goods In/Out Technician to join our team in Wallingford.
You will be responsible for receiving, checking, recording, storing and despatching materials, finished products and customer-owned printed circuit boards.
This is an important role within the business, ensuring that customer products and materials are handled carefully, accurately identified and made available to Production when required. You will also ensure that completed customer products are correctly packaged and despatched safely and on time.
Due to the nature of the products we handle, strong attention to detail and a careful, methodical approach are essential.
Duties
- Receiving deliveries of materials, consumables and customer printed circuit boards.
- Checking incoming goods against delivery notes, purchase orders and customer paperwork.
- Confirming quantities, part numbers, batch numbers and product descriptions.
- Inspecting deliveries for visible damage, shortages or discrepancies.
- Accurately booking goods onto the company’s systems.
- Labelling and storing materials and customer products in the correct locations.
- Ensuring customer printed circuit boards remain clearly identified and traceable.
- Handling printed circuit boards carefully, following ESD requirements where applicable.
- Reporting damaged, incorrect or unidentified items promptly.
- Issuing materials and customer products to Production.
- Receiving completed products back from Production and checking quantities.
- Packaging printed circuit boards and other customer products securely for transport.
- Preparing delivery notes, courier labels and despatch documentation.
- Arranging and processing courier collections.
- Recording tracking and despatch information accurately.
- Supporting stock checks and investigating stock discrepancies.
- Maintaining clear separation between accepted, quarantined, rejected and completed goods.
- Keeping the warehouse, goods-in and despatch areas clean, safe and organised.
- Following company quality, health and safety and environmental procedures.
About you
You will ideally have some previous experience working in a warehouse, goods-in, goods-out, stores or despatch environment.
You should also have:
- Strong attention to detail.
- A careful and methodical approach to work.
- Good organisational and time-management skills.
- The ability to check quantities, part numbers and paperwork accurately.
- Basic computer skills.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- A reliable and responsible approach.
- An understanding of the importance of handling customer property carefully.
- The ability to carry out appropriate manual-handling activities safely.
Experience handling electronic components or printed circuit boards would be beneficial, but full role-specific training will be provided.
Desirable Experience
- Previous warehouse, stores or despatch experience.
- Experience booking goods onto a stock-control or production system.
- Experience handling printed circuit boards or electronic components.
- Knowledge of ESD-safe handling procedures.
- Experience working within a manufacturing or engineering environment.
- Experience preparing goods for courier collection.
- Knowledge of stock control, batch tracking or product traceability.
