Play Torbay is a small charity that provides fun and accessible play opportunities throughout the year. We offer various activities such as playground adventures, weekly clubs and special events in our community. Playing in nature helps to connect us to it’s wonders provoking curiosity and greater understanding. Research shows that children playing outdoors are up to five times more active than playing indoors and use five times as many words.
We are looking for a skilled, experienced and enthusiastic practitioner to develop and deliver this exciting programme. They will be self-motivated and a good communicator, able to confidently liaise with engage groups of children ranging in age and with varying needs and abilities. Establishing the Woodland Hub offer including:
o Leading the established Woodland Hub Nature and Play Sessions at Indigos playground for electively home educated children aged 5 – 12 years
o Managing and leading a small team to support the planning, resourcing and delivery of the Woodland Hub sessions
o Creating and maintaining an engaging, fun and supportive environment, demonstrating flexibility in planning and running sessions in response to varying/changing needs of the children and young people involved.
o Ensuring Health & Safety requirements are met, including Risk Benefit Assessments which are continually checked and updated whilst demonstrating flexibility in planning, supervising and supporting children and young people with different needs and abilities.
o Being highly organised and skilled in dealing with a wide range of key stakeholders including, children, parents, families, volunteers and communities to continue to establish an effective ‘community of practice’ to help to progress and sustain the development of the Indigos Play and Ecology Centre.
Working as the Woodland Hub Lead includes
o Being able to work alone and use own initiative as well as working well as part of a team
o Being willing to work outdoors (in all weathers!)
o Being willing to be involved in practical maintenance
o Liaising with the Play Torbay Trustees and prepare regular reports when requested.
Pay: Up to £18.00 per hour
