Salary: Grade 11, ranging from £32,597 - £36,363 per annum.
Role summary:
You’ll be responsible for providing professional technical advice on the design and suitability of estate road infrastructure associated with new developments. You will lead on the delivery of technical approvals and oversee the progression of estate roads from initial design, through to adoption.
Working as part of a dynamic and ambitious highways service, you will be overseeing an extensive and varied range of contracts. You will be involved in around 20 new sites each year, each with unique challenges and outcomes which will allow you to showcase a wide variety of skills.
As well as showcasing your technical ability, you will also need to work collaboratively and bring excellent communication and interpersonal skills to this role. You will be working with developers, internal services and external stakeholders to ensure that new infrastructure is delivered to the required standard.
Through this role, you will be helping to enable safe, sustainable highway networks for the community while protecting the Council’s long-term assets. What you’ll do - key responsibilities:
Assess and comment upon the technical suitability of development proposals.
Ensure that developers’ submitted engineering details of estate road proposals comply with the Council’s specifications and guidelines.
Ensure appropriate legal agreements between developers and the County are implemented to safeguard the County’s position.
Ensure and oversee appropriate supervision on new estate road construction sites.
Determine the value of road works to ensure the appropriate bonds are secured before issuing formal approval for construction.
What we’re looking for – knowledge, experience & skills:
Knowledge and experience of highway and transport technical issues.
Able to undertake comparisons of best practice with other organisations.
Awareness of the Advance Payment Code legislation.
Knowledge and experience in technical audit processes.
Educated to a degree level or part professionally qualified.
Strong analytical and problem solving skills, with strong attention to detail.
Able to manage multiple tasks and priorities effectively.
Additional Information:
This is a permanent, full-time position working 37 hours per week.
30 days of annual leave (additional to bank holidays).
