Overview
We are seeking a physically fit and reliable HGV Class 2 Driver to operate an 18-tonne sleeper cab vehicle. This is a dedicated tramping role involving travel all over Scotland, where you will live out of the vehicle during the week. The core of this role involves route-based collections of textiles, clothing bags, and stock from outdoor clothing banks and high-street charity shops.
Key Responsibilities
- Safely operate and navigate an 18-tonne rigid HGV Class 2 vehicle on multi-stop routes.
- Handballing & Loading: Manually empty outdoor clothing banks and collect stock bags from charity shops (this is a physically demanding role requiring heavy lifting).
- Manage your route efficiently, ensuring timely collections while adhering to all driver hours and tachograph regulations.
- Spend 2 nights away per week sleeping in the vehicle's sleeper cab.
- Maintain a polite and professional manner when dealing with charity shop staff and members of the public.
Additional Job Requirements
- Physical Fitness: Must be comfortable with heavy lifting, loading, and repetitive manual handling daily.
- Spatial Awareness: Confidence maneuvering an 18-tonne vehicle in tighter urban environments, tight service bays, or public car parks near charity shops.
- Willingness to live and sleep out of the HGV sleeper cab for the duration of the working week.
Pay: £16.75 per hour
