Job description – General Assistant
Overall purpose of the job:
To support the provision of services at The Saffron Conference & Banqueting centre by preparing event rooms; serving events; breaking-down event rooms and assisting in the provision of a consistent professional standard of hospitality. Assist the Events team to ensure smooth running of activities at the centre.
Key responsibilities for this job:
1. To be responsible for the preparation and set-up of meeting rooms as required at the centre including:
· Ensuring correct room layout by arranging tables, chairs, table linens, crockery, cutlery, and glassware; any table decoration and centrepieces; beverage stations; providing perishable items such as biscuits, pastries etc.
· Setting up, positioning and testing of audio-visual equipment such as PowerPoint projectors, Laptops, screens, flipcharts microphones & speakers.
· Provision of stationary & materials as appropriate
2. Protect event services and event guests by adhering to sanitation and safety policies particularly the companies Safer Food Better Business Safety & Hygiene System; maintaining clean and orderly work areas.
3. To assist with the layout of buffets and refreshments; responding to special requests.
4. To ensure timely removal and washing of crockery, cutlery, glassware, and table linen, etc; replenishing utensils; refilling water jugs; being alert to patron spills or other needs carrying out remedial room cleaning where necessary; assist in ensuring rest rooms are topped up with soap and paper.
5. Clear rooms by retrieving perishable foods; clearing tables; removing linens; breaking down waiting and beverage stations, tables, and chairs; removing rubbish and recyclable materials; cleaning and storing equipment and supplies.
6. To maintain Environmental Health records as required.
7. To control the issue, laundering and storing of linen.
8. To maintain adequate stock of catering consumables, (including, but not exclusively condiments and basic table sauces; sugars; biscuits and confectionery; cordials; cleaning materials).
9. Enhance the events service and the organisations reputation by accepting responsibility for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
10. Cleaning of toilets
11. keeping centre and facilities neat and tidy
12. Dish washing and deep cleaning of kitchens
13. Carrying out DIY tasks where necessary
Knowledge and experience required:
We do not require any minimum experience however, any experience you do have will be an added benefit. We are looking for applicants with the right mindset and commitment to carry out the job role. We will provide all training necessary to carry out the role and would expect you to:
1. Hold a minimum basic level food hygiene certificate or be prepared to gain certification where required.
2. Have an extensive level of experience in a similar role in a similar environment or demonstrate how you will be suitable for the role.
3. Perform duties to a high standard and to ensure that the quality assurance processes are implemented successfully across the centre, particularly those relating to the role.
4. Have a personal responsibility for health and safety.
5. Participate in and make an appropriate contribution to the centre planning and review processes.
6. Keep up to date with issues affecting their role and partake in any required training and professional development as required.
