Overview
We are a growing, friendly gardening business looking for a reliable Gardening Assistant to join our team.
This role offers an excellent opportunity for individuals passionate about gardening and horticulture who perhaps are already studying at college or looking to build a career in gardening.
The successful candidate will work alongside my colleague and I to provide the ongoing upkeep and general maintenance of existing clients.
They will gain valuable experience in garden care and plant management. This position is ideal for those looking to develop their skills in a practical, outdoor environment while supporting our landscape projects.
Duties
- Assist with planting, pruning, weeding, and general garden maintenance to ensure healthy growth and aesthetic appeal.
- Operate hand tools such as secateurs, spades, and rakes to carry out routine gardening tasks efficiently.
- Use machinery safely for tasks such as mowing, strimming or hedge trimming under supervision.
- Using the correct PPE for the task required.
- Monitor plant health & species and report any issues related to pests or diseases for further action.
- Maintain the cleanliness of work areas by clearing debris, cleaning up after every task and ensuring tools are cleaned & stored properly after use.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in gardening, horticulture or landscape maintenance is advantageous but not essential; a keen interest in plant care is important.
- Familiarity with hand tools and basic power tools used in gardening or landscaping is desirable.
- Understanding of plant care principles will be highly valued.
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions with physical stamina for manual tasks.
- Good organisational skills and attention to detail are essential for maintaining high standards of garden presentation.
- A proactive attitude with a willingness to learn new skills related to horticulture and landscape management.
- A full UK driving license

Pay: £15.00-£17.00 per hour
