Job Description
Due to continued growth within our Energy & Natural Resources division, we are looking for a Commercial Procurement Assistant to join our expanding team, supporting major programmes within the nuclear and wider energy sectors. Candidates will be required to be present in our office or client office in Warrington for 3 days per week.
As a Commercial Procurement Assistant, you will support the delivery of procurement, commercial and contract management activities across complex infrastructure and energy programmes.
Working closely with Commercial Managers, Procurement Leads and key project stakeholders, you will assist in the development and implementation of procurement strategies, support sourcing and tendering activities, and contribute to effective contract management throughout the procurement lifecycle.
The role is ideal for candidates with prior experience in procurement, commercial management or contract administration who are looking to build their career within the energy, nuclear, infrastructure or wider regulated sectors.
Procurement & Commercial Support

Support the development and implementation of procurement and commercial strategies aligned to project and business objectives.

Assist in the preparation of sourcing strategies, market engagement activities and tender documentation.

Support the development of procurement routes, lotting strategies and commercial models.

Conduct market research and supplier analysis to identify opportunities, risks and value-for-money outcomes.

Assist with supplier engagement activities and procurement events.
Tendering & Contract Management
-
Support procurement activities through all stages of the tender process, including ITT preparation, evaluation and contract award.

Assist in the preparation, review and administration of contracts and commercial documentation.

Support contract management activities, including monitoring supplier performance and contractual compliance.

Maintain accurate procurement and contract records, ensuring adherence to governance requirements.

Assist with change management, commercial reporting and contract administration activities.
Commercial Analysis & Reporting
-
Support cost monitoring, forecasting and commercial reporting activities.
-
Analyse commercial and procurement data to identify trends, risks and opportunities.

Assist with the preparation of business cases, approval papers and governance documentation.

Contribute to the development of procurement performance metrics and reporting dashboards.

Support continuous improvement initiatives across commercial and procurement processes.
Stakeholder Management
-
Work collaboratively with project teams, procurement specialists, legal advisors, contractors and suppliers.

Build effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

Provide commercial and procurement support to project teams and business stakeholders.

Support governance and assurance activities, ensuring compliance with internal procedures and regulatory requirements.
Qualifications
Essential
-
Degree, HNC/HND or equivalent qualification in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, Procurement, Business, Engineering or a related discipline.

Prior experience supporting procurement, commercial or contract management activities.
-
Experience working within major projects, infrastructure, energy, utilities, construction, engineering or other regulated environments.
-
Understanding of procurement processes and contract administration principles.
-
Strong commercial awareness and analytical skills.
-
Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
-
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.
-
Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
Desirable
-
Experience within the Nuclear, Energy, Infrastructure, Defence or Utilities sectors.
-
Knowledge of NEC contracts and procurement best practice.
-
Experience supporting procurements valued in excess of £5 million.

Exposure to business case development and governance approval processes.
-
Understanding of public sector procurement frameworks and government assurance processes.
-
Working towards or holding membership of a relevant professional body such as CIPS, RICS, APM or similar.
