Lead Workshop Technician
Build Something Special with Rocketeer Cars
At Rocketeer Cars, we don't build ordinary cars.
We're a small team of passionate engineers and enthusiasts creating beautifully engineered, high-performance sports cars based on the iconic Mazda MX-5 platform. Every vehicle that leaves our workshop is built with care, precision and pride, and we're looking for someone who shares those values to help lead our workshop into its next chapter.
If you're an experienced technician who enjoys solving problems, takes pride in exceptional workmanship and wants to work on exciting, low-volume performance vehicles rather than repetitive dealership servicing, we'd love to hear from you.
The Role
This is a hands-on position where you'll combine practical workshop skills with day-to-day leadership of our small production team. You'll be responsible for ensuring every build meets the exacting standards our customers expect, while helping organise workflow, maintaining quality and supporting continuous improvement.
You'll spend your time both on the tools and leading from the front, ensuring every project progresses safely, efficiently and to the highest standard.
What You'll Be Doing
- Leading and coordinating the daily activities of our workshop team.
- Carrying out mechanical assembly, servicing, diagnostics and repairs.
- Overseeing the build of our bespoke performance vehicles from start to finish.
- Ensuring every vehicle meets our exacting quality standards before leaving the workshop.
- Supporting, mentoring and motivating fellow technicians.
- Planning workloads and helping projects stay on schedule.
- Diagnosing and resolving mechanical and electrical issues.
- Maintaining accurate workshop records and documentation.
- Promoting a safe, organised and professional working environment.
About You
We're looking for someone who enjoys working as part of a close-knit team and takes genuine satisfaction from producing exceptional work.
You'll ideally have:
- Significant mechanical experience within an automotive workshop.
- Strong diagnostic and fault-finding skills.
- Confidence working with both mechanical and electrical systems.
- Experience leading or supervising a workshop team, or the ambition to step into a leadership role.
- Excellent organisational and communication skills.
- A practical, can-do attitude with great attention to detail.
- A genuine enthusiasm for performance cars and engineering.
Experience with Mazda MX-5s, specialist vehicles or low-volume manufacturing would be an advantage but isn't essential.
Why Join Rocketeer?
This is an opportunity to work somewhere different.
- Work on bespoke, high-performance sports cars.
- Small, friendly and highly skilled team.
- Interesting, varied work—no repetitive servicing.
