Hours: Four-day working week

From the team behind Sticky Walnut comes The White Horse in Churton, the first Elite Bistros pub. We’re a busy, well-loved village gastropub known for uncomplicated, delicious food, warm hospitality and a Sunday roast worth travelling for. We’re now looking for an experienced Sous Chef to join our kitchen team and help us keep raising the bar.
The Role
- Support the Head Chef in running a smooth, high-standard kitchen service
- Take charge of sections and lead service in the Head Chef’s absence
- Help develop and deliver our seasonal menu, sourcing quality local produce
- Maintain the highest standards of food quality, presentation and consistency
- Train, mentor and motivate junior kitchen staff
- Ensure full compliance with food safety, hygiene and health & safety standards
- Manage stock control, ordering and kitchen costs alongside the Head Chef
What We’re Looking For
- Proven experience as a Sous Chef or strong Senior Chef de Partie ready to step up, ideally in a quality gastropub or restaurant kitchen
- A genuine passion for fresh, seasonal, produce-led cooking
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to run a section and support the wider team
- A calm, organised approach under pressure
- Solid understanding of food safety and kitchen management
- A team player who takes pride in every plate that leaves the pass
