About the Role
We're looking for a hands-on Mechanic to join our workshop team, diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining personal electric vehicles (PEVs) — including e-scooters, e-bikes, electric unicycles (EUCs), e-skateboards, mobility scooters, segways, and dirt bikes.
You don't need prior experience with electric scooters specifically — we provide full structured training. What matters most is a solid mechanical or electrical foundation and a genuine interest in learning how these vehicles work.
What You'll Do
- Diagnose issues on a wide range of personal electric vehicles using flowcharts, wiring diagrams, and standard procedures
- Carry out repairs including brake adjustments, puncture repair, motor diagnostics, controller wiring, and battery diagnosis/repair/replacement
- Write clear, professional repair estimates and customer notes using our workshop management system
- Follow safety protocols at all times, especially around battery handling
- Keep the workshop clean, organized, and running efficiently
- Progress from small/medium scooters to more complex PEVs (EUCs, e-bikes, mobility scooters, segways, dirt bikes) as your skills grow
What We're Looking For
Required:
- Hands-on mechanical or electrical repair experience — this could come from bicycles, motorcycles, cars, small engines, appliances, electronics, or similar fields
- Comfortable working with both mechanical parts and electrical/wiring systems
- Willingness to learn — you'll be trained on PEV-specific diagnostics and repair from day one
- Good attention to detail and ability to follow documented procedures
A Big Plus (Not Required):
- Experience diagnosing, repairing, or replacing batteries (automotive, motorcycle, industrial, electronics, or similar) — battery work is a core part of this role
- Automotive mechanic or MOT technician experience — the combination of mechanical and electrical/wiring skills car techs already have transfers really well here
- Experience with mobility scooters, wheelchairs, or other electric mobility equipment
- Mobile phone, laptop, or consumer electronics repair experience (battery replacement, soldering, diagnostics)
- White goods/appliance repair, or air conditioning and refrigeration engineering experience
- Solar panel or battery storage installation experience
- Generator, UPS, or forklift/electric plant technician experience
- Previous experience with bicycles, e-bikes, motorcycles, scooters, or other personal electric vehicles
- Experience with diagnostic software or repair tracking systems
- Technical certifications in mechanical or electrical repair (City & Guilds, NVQ, automotive, electronics, etc.)
