We are seeking an experienced IT Business Analyst / Solutions Architect to join our team and play a key role in analysing business requirements, designing enterprise solutions, managing stakeholder relationships, and supporting the successful delivery of technology projects.
Role Overview
The IT Business Analyst / Solutions Architect will be responsible for engaging with clients and internal stakeholders to understand business needs, analyse existing processes, identify opportunities for improvement, and design practical technology solutions.
The role requires a combination of business analysis, systems design, project coordination, stakeholder management, and technical consultancy skills. The successful candidate will work on a variety of infrastructure, systems integration, digital transformation, and enterprise technology projects.
The position will involve regular travel within the UK and internationally to attend client meetings, conduct requirements gathering workshops, support project delivery, and maintain relationships with key stakeholders and technology partners.
Key Responsibilities
- Gather, analyse, and document business and technical requirements from clients and stakeholders.
- Conduct detailed business process analysis and identify opportunities for operational improvement.
- Translate business requirements into functional and technical specifications.
- Design scalable, secure, and cost-effective IT solutions aligned with business objectives.
- Develop solution architectures, implementation plans, and technical documentation.
- Collaborate with project teams to ensure successful delivery of technology solutions.
- Conduct feasibility studies, risk assessments, and impact analyses for proposed solutions.
- Work closely with internal departments, clients, suppliers, and third-party vendors.
- Support infrastructure, networking, cloud, systems integration, and digital transformation initiatives.
- Monitor project progress and ensure deliverables are achieved within agreed timelines.
- Prepare reports, presentations, and recommendations for senior management and clients.
- Assist with procurement activities, vendor evaluations, and solution selection processes.
- Ensure compliance with relevant industry standards, governance frameworks, and organisational policies.
- Support post-implementation reviews and continuous improvement initiatives.
Client Engagement & Travel Responsibilities
- Meet clients across the UK and internationally to understand business objectives and operational requirements.
- Conduct stakeholder workshops, solution discovery sessions, and requirements gathering exercises.
- Present technical solutions, project proposals, and implementation recommendations to clients.
- Build and maintain long-term relationships with domestic and international clients.
- Travel to client sites to support project delivery, implementation activities, and business reviews.
- Collaborate with international technology partners, suppliers, and service providers.
- Represent the company at industry events, conferences, exhibitions, and business meetings where required.
Essential Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Systems, Business Information Systems, or a related discipline.
- Minimum 5 years' experience in IT Business Analysis, Systems Analysis, Solutions Architecture, or a similar role.
- Strong experience gathering and documenting business requirements.
- Experience translating business needs into technical and functional solutions.
- Knowledge of enterprise IT infrastructure, networking, cloud platforms, and business systems.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong stakeholder management and communication abilities.
- Experience preparing technical documentation, process maps, business cases, and solution designs.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
- Willingness to undertake UK and international business travel as required.
Desirable Skills
- Experience working with enterprise technologies such as Cisco, Dell, HPE, VMware, Microsoft, AWS, Azure, or equivalent platforms.
- Knowledge of ITIL, ISO standards, governance, and compliance frameworks.
- Experience supporting digital transformation and infrastructure modernisation programmes.
- Understanding of project management methodologies including Agile and Waterfall.
- Professional certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, VMware, ITIL, TOGAF, PRINCE2, or equivalent.
