Salary: £31,000 per annum
Location: Guildford and surrounding areas, must be willing to travel to sites as required.
Contract: Permanent
Holidays: 25 days per year, plus your birthday off and all Bank Holidays!

Join our team delivering high-quality property and grounds maintenance services for supported housing accommodation.
As a Grounds & Maintenance Operative, you will be responsible for maintaining EHSL properties and outdoor spaces to ensure they are safe, clean, and well-presented. This is a varied role requiring a mix of skills, from general repairs and property upkeep to grounds maintenance and cleaning. You’ll work independently and as part of a team to ensure our properties remain in excellent condition for residents.
This is a mobile role, where you will travel between multiple locations, handling a variety of maintenance tasks and responding to issues as they arise.
Key Responsibilities:
- Property Repairs & Maintenance: Conduct general building repairs, including minor plumbing tasks (fixing leaks, unblocking drains, replacing taps), basic electrical work (changing light fittings, replacing sockets), painting, decorating, carpentry (repairing doors, frames, skirting boards, installing shelving), and flooring repairs (carpet, vinyl, tiles). Basic heating system checks, pest-proofing measures, and minor roof/gutter maintenance.
- Structural & Safety Works: Carry out minor brickwork repairs, rendering, plastering, and drainage maintenance. Conduct glazing repairs, install safety equipment (handrails, grab bars, fire safety features), and ensure properties meet compliance standards.
- Grounds & Outdoor Maintenance: Perform general gardening (mowing, hedge trimming, weeding), jet washing of walkways, external window cleaning, waste removal, pest control, and maintenance of fences and gates.
- Cleaning & Upkeep: Maintain communal areas, conduct deep cleaning of void properties, and carry out carpet and floor cleaning as required.
- Health & Safety Compliance: Perform routine property inspections to ensure all maintenance and repair work is carried out safely and to a high standard. Identify and report hazards or risks.
- Void Property Preparation: Ensure vacant properties are properly cleaned, repaired, and maintained to a high standard before new tenants move in.
- General Caretaking Duties: Assist with additional maintenance tasks, troubleshooting property issues, and responding to urgent repair needs.
Mobile Work Style
This is a mobile role, where you will begin and end your day from home, traveling between multiple locations. You will have access to EHSL’s network for assignments, updates, and administrative tasks.

Essential Skills & Requirements:
- Please note due to our block van insurance, applicants must be age 25+.
- Proficiency in English (reading, writing, and speaking).
- Strong diagnostic skills for repairs and maintenance.
- Full UK driving licence.
- Good level of physical fitness due to the hands-on nature of the role.
