The Community Sports Officer will play an important role within Accrington Stanley Community Trust’s Sport &
Health Team, with primary responsibility for coordinating, managing and delivering the Premier League Inspires programme.
The postholder will lead the day-to-day delivery of Premier League Inspires, working closely with partner schools, young people, Trust staff, Accrington Stanley Football Club and external partners to ensure the programme is delivered to a high standard and achieves its agreed outcomes and targets.
Responsibilities will include coordinating school delivery, managing participant referrals and engagement, planning and delivering sessions and events, monitoring programme KPIs, maintaining accurate records and completing evaluation and reporting requirements. The postholder will ensure delivery meets Premier League Foundation requirements, including safeguarding, equality and inclusion, participant voice and relevant minimum operating standards.
The role will involve direct delivery with young people aged 11–18, including small group interventions, mentoring, careers activities, social action and enrichment opportunities. The successful candidate will need to be confident building positive relationships with young people, including those experiencing barriers to education or requiring additional support.
Although Premier League Inspires will be the postholder’s main area of responsibility, they will be an integral member of the wider Sport & Health Team. The role will therefore include supporting other Trust programmes, projects, events and community activities as required. This may include school delivery, community sport, health and wellbeing activities, holiday programmes and other funded projects.
The ideal candidate will have experience of working with young people in education, youth work, sport or community settings, alongside strong organisational, communication and relationship-building skills. Experience of project coordination, mentoring or targeted youth engagement would be advantageous.
